To My Dearest Momma

I love you more than words could ever express

To My Dearest Momma

To my dearest momma,

I know I am a day late but that shouldn’t matter. I shouldn’t have to be extra thankful for you on a specific day. You should know that I love you and am so thankful for you no matter what the day is. I know sometimes you feel that I am not appreciative of you and that is a shame on me. Without you I wouldn’t be where I am today, I wouldn’t be the woman am today.

To my dearest momma,

There are no words that can describe how much I love and care for you. You do so much for me. You go out of your way to do some pretty amazing things for me. For example, my birthday this year was absolutely amazing. I loved going with you to see RENT on its 20th Anniversary Tour. The whole day with you was very much needed. I had a fantastic time and I thank you so much for that time I got to spend with you.

To my dearest momma,

I want to say thank you for always sticking by me. I know you have to because you are my mom but I am still very thankful for you. I get myself into some pretty dumb stuff and you always stick by me. I put myself in relationships that are bad for me and you are there to help me through them when things start going south.

To my dearest momma,

Thank you for always supporting me when I take on new projects. Thank you for supporting me at every high school musical, every choir concert, every theatre production in college, every awards ceremony. Thank you for being so involved in everything I do, even when I get frustrated.

To my dearest momma,

Sometimes I think you are the only one that could ever put up with my impossible self. Kudos to you for that! Thank you for being the best and most nosey mom anyone could ever ask for. And uh, congrats for making such an amazingly awesome kid like me.

I love you with all my heart no matter what I might say.

Love,

The best kid you have ever given birth to

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
