My 2017 Bucket List

8 Things that I would like to get done this year.

On January first, I sat down and made a list of resolutions that I wanted to keep throughout the year. These ranged from washing my face everyday to a (retrospectively) unrealistic fitness challenge. So, this year I'm going to change things up. Rather than have a list of things that I want to do and being upset when I do not do one, I'm making a bucket list of things that will make me happy when I do manage to do one.

1. Go on a road trip

Last spring break my best friend and I spent three days in Nashville. It was so much fun. I would love to take the time this summer and just drive somewhere new and explore the city for a few days. Maybe we could go to the beach, or drive up to DC, or go see Wilmington, North Carolina to see the One Tree Hill set.

2. Run in a color run 5k

Part of my fitness goals for this year include being able to run a mile, which I used to be able to do but now I doubt I can. I would like to be able to run a 5k period, but I would specifically like to run in a color run. You wear all white and people throw powered colors at you so you become a rainbow of a person. It looks really fun.

3. Make a really good vegetarian meal

Eating all my servings of fruit is easy, but it’s a lot harder to get in all of the vegetables. I would like to learn how to make a good meal just out of vegetables, because sometimes you just don’t want chicken for the fifth time that week. I also think that if I can make a full meal out of vegetables, I’ll be able to make smaller sides of vegetables and eat more in general.

4. Pull an all-nighter

I don’t want to do this for school reasons. I’ve been there, done that, and it’s not fun. I want one of those nights where you’re with your friends and you just don’t go to sleep because you don’t want the night to end. Like the One Direction song (and album) says, “All my favorite conversations (are) always made in the A.M.”

5. Write a full song

I’ve written plenty of songs. I have lyrics for five songs, and pieces of hundreds of other songs. But, I do not have any music for the songs. Some of my songs have chords picked out, but that’s it. This year I would like to write and potentially record a full song. That would include picking out instruments, finding chords, recording the lyrics and the harmonies, and meshing it all together. Most of this I can actually do on my own thanks to technology, but it would be cool and more professional to have help with certain aspects.

6. Be in a happy relationship

Originally, I was going to say I wanted to fall in love. I’m more concerned with being happy than being in love, considering all that has happened since I started college. I realized that I could be in love while not in a relationship (and that I probably am, but I won’t admit it). I just want to be happy, and this year I’d like to experience a truly happy relationship.

7. See a meteor shower

My dad used to teach astronomy at the University in my hometown. We have the perfect house for viewing the stars, because we live on top of a tall hill in the middle of the clearing. Despite this, I’ve never actually seen an eclipse or a meteor shower. I want 2017 to be the year that I finally do.

8. Collab with another YouTube artist

This has been on my bucket list for two years now. Collaborating with other artists helps both parties grow their channels. I would like to collab with an artist, either by us singing separately and putting it together or us meeting up to film a video.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
