11 things we need to thank our brothers for

My Brother's Keeper

If you have a brother, you know that they can be a pain, but there's no better friend than a brother and that's something that as a child, I never thought I'd say. But growing up I've realized that they really aren't so bad and we owe them a lot of thank you's.

1. Thank you for taking the blame - thank you for always taking the blame when mom got mad even if it was actually my fault, you never let me get in trouble, you just take the blame and let her get mad at you and take it out on you.

2. Thank you for doing my chores - thank you for voluntarily or letting me talk you into doing my chores for me all the time, if I'm running late for something or just simply don't feel like doing them, you do them for me and never open your mouth to mom about it so I don't get in trouble.

3. Thank you for sticking up for me - thank you for always always always being the "big" brother I never had, because even though I'm the older one, you always have my back when I need it.

4. Thank you for being the best listener - thank you for listening to my gossip on the way to school, or listening to me complain about boys or my friend issues, and for letting me talk you into getting matching sibling tattoo's.

5. Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on - thank you for being my shoulder to cry on at 3am in the driveway while I'm sitting in my car crying over the same boy that keeps breaking my heart, and never telling me "I told you so", and always threatening to kill him for making me cry... again.

6. Thank you for letting me steal your stuff - thank you for always letting me steal your big t-shirts, your nike socks, your aux cord and use your Xbox 24/7 for Netflix and never ever complaining about any of it,

7. Thank you for letting me control you - thank you for letting me act like your second mom all the time and get on to you like my own and never cussing me out for it, I know I get a little crazy sometimes but hey, that girl you think you love isn't right for you and you need to pull your grades up, kid.

8. Thank you for being my punching bag - thank you for letting me take my bad days out on you when we get home from school, or blame everything on you so I won't get in trouble, or even telling you I wish I was an only child because that's the biggest lie I've ever told.

9. Thank you for never pulling a me on me - thank you for always taking me everywhere with you even though I never wanted to take you anywhere with me when I was the one that was 16, and thank you for never telling me no when that was the only word I knew when we were kids.

10. Thank you for never giving up on me - thank you for always talking mom into letting me do things I want to do, thank you for always being front row and my biggest supporter in anything and everything I do, thank you for pushing me to be the best I can be and always telling me how proud you are to be my brother.

11. Thank you for being my best dang friend - thank you for literally being the best friend I will ever have, we didn't believe mom when we were younger about growing up to be best friends but I guess you're alright, kid. I couldn't imagine growing up with anyone else by my side so thank you for giving me the best 16 years of my life so far (please don't ever grow up). I can definitely say I wouldn't be the person I am today without you as my brother.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
