Dear Bestie,
When I came to college, I expected to be alone. As an introvert, the thought of being alone does not bother me, but loneliness is a completely different struggle. Looking back, I still can’t remember what we started bantering about in our Aural Development class, but that conversation was the beginning of our friendship. That was less than two months ago. Somehow, in that short amount of time, you have gone from being “the loud guy in most of my classes with gorgeous eyes that smells good” to “the best friend I’ve ever had”.
I’ve showed you the side of me that not many get to see, and I know it’s the same for you. I feel so incredibly blessed to know the real you that you hide all too often, because the real you is so much fun! You have definitely made my transition to college so much easier. I know that if I ever need you I can just call, and that means a lot.
You have become my person, my motivator, my rock, my teddy bear, my brother, my comedian, my cheerleader. Thank you. It makes my life so much easier knowing that I can tell you anything, go to you any time of the day to get a hug, rely on you to bring me down from an anxiety attack, and listen to your video game commentary to cheer me up. It is crazy to me that you know me so well in the short amount of time we’ve known each other. I appreciate it more than you know.
I end this letter with a promise. Actually, several. I promise to always be there for you. I promise to buy you coffee and donuts when you need a morning pick-me-up. I promise to always play-fight with you about how my hair is softer than yours but your cologne smells better than my perfume. I promise to always be me. I promise to drive you crazy with my insane amounts of energy. I promise to always be game for car rides and loud music sessions. I promise to annoy you with my psychotic tendencies. I promise to tell you when you’re being ridiculous. I promise to do my best to be the best friend for you.
Thank you for being my person. You’ve changed me for the better.
Sincerely,
Hailey
