As the leaves begin to change, it’s also time to start changing up your go-to tunes. Here are some cool tunes to refresh your soundtrack on crisp fall mornings.

House of Fun by Madness

This song came on the radio when I was on a road trip with two friends this past week. I’d never heard the song before, but all three of us immediately started jamming to it. It’s older vibe is a nice change of pace from some of today’s tunes.

Ophelia by The Lumineers

This is my favorite rainy day song. It’s super calming, and I love how beautifully and realistically it paints the picture of love.

Another Night on Mars by The Maine

My favorite line in this song is “With friends like ours, anywhere is home.” I’ve been super lucky to have amazing friends like that and this song has become one of my anthems in past weeks.

Sweet Disaster by DREAMERS

I love the oxymoron of “Sweet Disaster” and I love this song. It’s got a killer chorus and I hope you love it, too.

Something to Believe In by Young the Giant

The music and lyrics of this song are a little unusual, but it’s a refreshing kind of unusual. There aren’t many songs like this out there, and I appreciate that.

Good Grief by Bastille

Bastille just recently released a new album, and IT’S FIRE. This song is easily my favorite song. It’s got a great beat and melody and gets stuck in your head, but in the good way, not the annoying way.

Along the Road by Karmin

This is a nice slow jam with incredibly honest lyrics about friendship in college. The memories Karmin sings about are the memories I’m making right now with my friends, and it feels super meta.

Fresh Eyes by Andy Grammer

A nice, relaxing ballad that always makes me smile. The love in this song is the kind of love I want someday.

Something New by Secret Weapons

This is one of those songs that you absolutely have to sing along at the top of your lungs. When I hear this song, I think of the late night adventures I have with my friends and it makes me smile.

Come on Eileen by Dexy’s Midnight Runners

This song is a classic. It doesn’t matter what the occasion is, I will always get up and dance to this song. There’s something about it that I can’t resist.

The Seeker by The Who

An oldie, but a goodie. You can never go wrong with The Who, and this song takes me back to my days playing Guitar Hero with my brother in our basement.

80’s Mercedes by Maren Morris

While I don’t have a Mercedes (unfortunately), I do relate to the “girl power” message in this song. It’s the kind of song I want to roll my windows down to, even in the winter.

Closer by the Chainsmokers (feat. Halsey)

I’m sure you’ve heard this song by now. But no matter how many times I hear it on the radio, I can still get down to it.

Cancer (Cover) by Twentyone Pilots

This song was originally made famous by My Chemical Romance, but covered by one of my favorite bands, Twentyone Pilots. They put an interesting spin on such an honest, heartfelt song. It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s worth your time.

Overwhelming by Jon Bellion

My friend played this song one day when we were studying together, and I immediately downloaded Jon Bellion’s album because I loved it so much. But, if you are looking for just one jam from his latest album, check out this one.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
