My 8 Favorite Things About The Holiday Season
The Jackson-Carlsons

The Holiday Season truly is the most wonderful time of the year. Children at school get to play in the snow, joyous music of Holidays past barrages all of us everywhere we go, and my parents get to put their Christmas decorations up on November 2nd. I know it is now December 26th, so Many holidays are now over, then remember New Years is right around the corner and this article is still relevant. In honor of my relevance, here are eight of my favorite parts of the Holiday season.

1. The Music

How could anybody not like Christmas music? Special thanks to Frank Sinatra and Mariah Carey for their retribution to Christmas my cheer.

2. The Drinks at Starbucks

I think I've consumed more Chestnut Praline Lattes than the population of Denmark. Proost!

3. The Lights

I think Christmas lights need to be a thing 365 days a year. Just with different themes so we all don't look like lazy Arkansas hillbillies.

4. Cold Weather

It's an easy formula. Cold weather plus frozen ponds plus a gallon of Hot chocolate minus hockey pads equals the best pond hockey you ever saw.

5. The Han Solo Trend

You know what I'm talking about. the white sweater under the black North Face vest, Leggings and Uggs. I've seen in 4 times today and I haven''t even left my house.

6. The Movies

The only thing better than Will Ferrell dressed as an elf for 2 hours is when the shitter is full.

7. Laramie Quiets Down

Laramie is a fantastic place, full of such interesting people, especially the students, but with most of them gone to visit their families for the Holidays, the town takes on the atmosphere only the summer months are familiar with: Silence, tranquility and a different sense of community, despite my love for the students and everything they bring to the table.

8. My Birthday

Yep, I'm a winter baby. Not as excited to be 20 as I was to be 18 or I am to be 21, but happy for it none the less. #the28thislit

You're pretty much feeling yourself. New haircut, clothes, shoes, everything. New year, new you, right? You're ready for this semester to kick off.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
