My 2017 Bucketlist

A list of things that sound easier to do than they actually are

If you're like me and feel like 2016 was a dud year for you, here are some of my ideas to take into the new year to make the most out of 2017.

Find Yourself

I know this is as cliche as it gets, but as I was reflecting on 2016, I realized that I hadn't done anything for or by myself. It's important to find something you're passionate about and find hobbies that interest you. Going to school and work don't count, even though they leave you exhausted. It's important to know what you love to do by yourself so that you can meet people who share those things with you.

Take a Trip

Whether it be with friends, family, a significant other, or alone, a trip to a new place opens up your mind and relieves you from your everyday life. Somewhere close and convenient, a road trip across the state or country, or a flight across the world, can all bring you joy in different ways. Don't let the stress of school or work overcome you and your bound to have a better year.

Say No to "Fake Love"

Like with any Drake song, his recent "Fake Love" got me thinking about the people in my life that no longer give it value. It's time to move on from the people who don't bother to reply to your texts or follow through with plans and only keep people around who cherish you.

Exercise More

As much as I loathe cardio it has so many benefits. Not only is it healthy for you, but it increases your endorphins leaving you in a more positive state of mind.

Overwhelm Yourself

And not in a stressful kind of way. I mean, do something thrilling that you've always wanted to do. Do something that you can tell a million people and never get tired of talking about. Do something that you can be proud of saying you accomplished in 2017.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
