Its hard to believe to most people in their late teens or their early twenties that the early 2000s were just ten years ago while we think that the 90s were just 10 years ago and the 80s being 20 years ago. This phenomenon is frightfully common with our age demographic but as time goes by, it is amazing at how much can change in a decade's time

The beauty of film is that it accurately depicts the era of time which it was made in (with the exception of fantasy or sci-fi ones where the setting takes place in an entirely different reality altogether). Watching a film from the 2000s gives you a fresh look at what life is like during those times. For example, if you take a look at fashion you can see that people in those films may have had baggier clothes which sat lower on their waist. Another example is that technology was not as sophisticated as it is today. Cell phones were much blockier and did not have touch screens as it did today.

With that being said, here are some good movies from the mid to late 2000s that are worth (re) watching.

1. Superbad (2007)

This one is pretty high on my list because it is one of the first Rated-R movies that many of my peers have snuck into. This comedy is the one that skyrocketed the careers for Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and cemented Michael Cera's career shortly before Juno was released. This movie shares a trio of upoming high school graduates who try to get their hands on some liquor for a High School Party only to encounter some obstacles in the way. Hilariously funny and a great coming of age movie.

2. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. (2004)

More of a romantic comedy this movie stars Jim Carey and Kate Winlet as a couple who have erased each other from their memories through a revolutionary technique. Jim who wants to get his memories erased finds the rekindled passion in the middle of the procedure and wants to stop the procedure.

3. Dude, Where's My Car (2000)

This funny movie follows two bachelors, young Ashton Kutcher and Seann Willam Scott, who try to find the place where they parked their car after a night of partying and recklessness. This film did not get good ratings, however, it was a box office success and was able to achieve a cult-following.

4. Saving Silverman (2001)

A buddy comedy following 3 friends who are in a Neil Diamond band but one of them named Silverman has entered a relationship with a manipulative and emotionally abusive psychologist and his other two friends try to stop him from marrying her.

5. Matchstick Men (2003)

Starring Nicholas Cage (before his movies started to go bad) and Sam Rockwell as his colleague, these people play a duo of con-artists with Cage's character having Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. All is complicated when a long lost offspring makes an appearance into both of their lives where things shake up. One of Nicholas Cage's best films and highly recommend watching.

If you watch these movies and notice the small differences with the technology and the setting as well as current events, you will enjoy the nostalgia of what the early to mid 2000s had to offer.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
