11 Healthy Foods You NEED To Try

As someone whose best friend is Chick-Fil-A french fries, posting an article about clean eats is probably on my list of things I didn’t really expect myself to do. Here I am, with one of my close friends.

However, with the recent trends of Kale, avocados, health, soul cycle, yoga and so so so much more, I decided to venture out of my comfort zone for a week and a half. Needless to say, it had taken a lot of effort to do this, and though there were some items I wouldn’t try again, these 11 are ones that I wouldn’t mind eating in the future - I might even add them to my daily routine.

1. Avocado Toast

Probably one of the few foods on this planet that you can never go wrong with is avocado, to be honest. Now whether you like your bread whole-grain, raisin, or white, or whether you like eggs or not, avocado on toast is probably one of the best things by man, second to air conditioning. Interested in learning how to make it? Click here.

2. Acai Bowl

You’ve probably seen almost every basic person you know snapchat it, Instagram it, or talk about it endlessly - but probably what shocked me the most is that it was actually pretty good. These berry bowls can be terribly generic, or you could make your own personalized to the fruits you actually stand! And you’ll finish the bowl surprisingly full. Interested in making it yourself? Try here.

3. Greek Yogurt Cakes

This one is actually inspired to one of my friends @carolinecooksclean! This one is an original, but it’s healthy, filling, and only 50 calories! This one is a recipe I’ve tried, and eaten more than once - Kumut cakes with greek yogurt and topped with whatever fruits you’d like! Definitely filling.

4. Veggie Burrito

Want to skip out on meat for the day?? Veggie burritos are healthy and insanely filling! You can get these at Whole Foods, or even personalize your own at FreeBirds or Chipotle! If you want to make your own, the recipe is not too far away!

5. Healthy Waffles

You don’t even have to go looking too far to have a slightly healthier meal - just put some extra fruits on it! Those waffles will taste even better.

6. Matcha

What is matcha?? Matcha is a special powdered green tea originally from Japan that is full of antioxidants and tastes pretty sweet! You can throw it into a smoothie, make a chai, tea, or latte out of it — it still tastes great, and is great for you! You can even buy it on Amazon! Get it here!

7. Edamame Salad

Multiple recipes and multiple ways to eat edamame salad, just throw in some veggies and (of course) edamame and throw some salt over it, it's so refreshing!!

8. Power Oatmeal

Toss in a few fruits & nuts in your regular oatmeal and its instantly much healthier and full of antioxidants! Probably an easy one to add to your morning routine.

9. Chia Seed Pudding

Packed with calcium, fiber, antioxidants and omega 3-fatty acids, chia seeds are simple and easy to work with, here’s a list of at least 10 recipes you could tryhere!

10. Purple Power Parfait

100% organic, the purple power parfait gives you (or me at least) immediate energy and isn’t any less filling! Try it here.

11. Quinoa Taco Salad

A twist on your average chipotle bowl, this actually tastes really good!! And that’s coming from a doubter of quinoa. Get the recipe here!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
