Let's be honest, sometimes dining hall food isn't cutting it and The Strip is kind of a walk when you only have 60 minutes to eat in between classes. Probably the best thing besides getting killer calves when walking around campus is some of the amazing food trucks we have here at The University of Alabama. They are a great "treat yourself on a budget," especially when you're craving good food.
Here are five must-try food trucks on campus:
SnoCo

One of the first food trucks I tried on campus was SnoCo. After a long day of recruitment in August, I had several options to have as a flavor on a snow cone. To be frank, it was the perfect treat for a very hot Alabama day. While it can be rare to see it around, it is a definite must try for when it's 90 degrees, and your class is all the way on the other side of campus. SnoCo offers a variety of delicious and refreshing options at a reasonable price.
Gampy’s

Gampy's has become a personal favorite of mine. It is the perfect fix when you have that sweet craving on your way to class. The different kinds of soda combinations (for all of you from the midwest, pop) are a fun way to spice up boring old drinks. A definite must try is the Muddy Dr. Pepper (it is the best). In addition to the drink combinations, Gampy's has homemade cookies with homemade frosting and pretzel bites if you're craving more than an ice cold soda. It is easy to catch the food truck with the big green Gampy's logo.
Blenz
Lauren Sexton
The newest addition to campus is Blenz. Following the recent food trend, Blenz serves the smoothie bowl with your choice of four toppings. These fruit bowls are the perfect meal when you want something fast, filling, and fruity. If you happen to see a long line and people taking pictures of their food, you have definitely found the Blenz food truck.
Local Roots
Lauren Sexton
If you have walked passed a grey truck and smell something amazing, more likely than not you have just passed Local Roots. Local Roots has a variety of good food and quick service. A personal favorite of mine is the chicken caesar sandwich with fries and sriracha sauce. The sauce definitely adds flavor to already perfectly seasoned fries. This is a food truck to hit when you are running low on energy because you will be stuffed and ready to continue your day when you are done.
Joyful Java
Lauren Sexton
The only way to face an 8 am class is with coffee, luckily for me and many others, Joyful Java is right there providing insanely good coffee along with the millennial and trendy treat of avocado toast. If you aren't a coffee person, you are probably going to be one by the end of your freshman year. They also have freshly made lemonade, especially perfect on those very hot Alabama days. If you smell coffee, you most likely have found Joyful Java. Stop, and have a cup of Joe.
While there are more food trucks to be tried, here these are some quick and reliable fixes for your hungry taste buds and even better the majority of them accept your Dining Dollars or Bama Cash so you don't have to dig for cash in your backpack!
