Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, the holiday season is a time for rejoicing and, whether we like to admit it or not, self reflection.
After Christmas comes New Year's and with the new year comes new habits. The end of December is a time to self reflect and move forward, leaving the “old you” in the past.
It’s easier said than done, but if you make new year’s resolutions that are so not you, the chances of you following through with them are slim to none. So I leave you with this list. A realistic list that no matter who you are, can incorporate into your everyday life
1. Drink more water
The number of benefits that water has is practically infinite. Clear skin, more energy, weight loss and so much more is what makes water the secret to success. Get yourself a huge reusable water bottle (32 oz) and drink two of those a day. What I do and have found really helpful to do is set hourly reminders on your phone to drink water. It is such an effortless yet beneficial new year's resolution.
2. Learn to love yourself more
Although there is nothing wrong with a new year's resolution to work out and lose weight, they can lead you to focus on the negative parts on your body. That negativity is the last thing you need leading into the new year. Put some motivational quotes on that mirror and focus on the parts of your body that you love
3. Spread more kindness
The holiday season is all about spreading love and giving back, but it shouldn’t be just a season of giving back. It should be a year round thing. Kindness can come in all forms, whether it is just holding the door for someone, giving a compliment or volunteering at an animal shelter, anything counts. Find what you’re passionate about and work with it.
4. Be a yes man
I incorporated this into my life last new year’s and I have never done anything better. I started trying new foods, hobbies and more. Say yes to going on adventures, and trying new things because you’ll never know what you’ll end up falling in love with.
So this new year, fall in love with new things, fall in love with giving back, and fall in love with yourself.
