Finals are over (bless) and that means all college students can finally head home and forget about school for a few weeks. If you’re anything like me, you’ll enjoy the first week or so, and then go stir crazy. If I don’t have 5 tests to study for, what am I supposed to do with myself? There's only so many Netflix shows that I haven't already binge-watched. So if you feel like you’re about to burst from boredom, (and dare I say, study for the fun of it?) try these fun Christmas activities first.

1. Build a gingerbread house.

Maybe not like this one, but you get the idea. It’s supposed to be fun, remember? It’s okay if it looks like a 5-year-old decorated it, no judgment. Unless you're an architect major, then it should definitely look like something straight out of a Christmas magazine and it will be judged. Happiest time of the year!

2. Cut out paper snowflakes and decorate.

Might also be as equally frustrating (Probably should have re-evaluated these activities). But it can also be extremely therapeutic and fun! It's especially nice when they are all hung, and you can proudly look at your festive room and admire your hard work. (As long as you don't compare it to ELF, no one can reach his level of Christmas decor).

3. Binge watch your favorite Christmas movies.

There’s no wrong answer to the question, “What’s your favorite Christmas movie?” Even the sappy Hallmark ones that have the exact same storyline and the exact same ending are great. They’re all equally magical.

4. Wrap presents.

Even though we’re poor college students who can’t actually afford presents (The 20's are the lost years, am I right?) I’m sure mom has some presents lying around that need wrapping. Get creative, maybe put 5 bows instead of 1. Live on the edge, be a rebel, mix it up a little.

5. Sing a whole lot of Christmas songs.

In the car, at home, while you're shoveling the driveway, in the store. Just everywhere you go. “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear”. So if you feel the need to start a choir of singing strangers in the middle of New York City to make Santa’s sleigh fly, you go for it.

There are so many things to do to help keep yourself in the Christmas spirit. I mean, it only comes around once a year, so might as well make it last. Throw some snowballs (If you aren't trapped in the desert. I do not recommend dust balls?), eat some cookies, drink some hot chocolate, hug your parents, hug your dogs, hug your friends. This season is about giving, and giving love is always free!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
