Year in and year out, production companies push comedies that strike laughs among the audience in order to get easy money, but when it comes to the critics they are crucified due to overuse of simple puns, inefficient writing, and of course inept acting. Now rather than focusing on these comedies, here is a list of spectacular comedies from the past six decades with references to some of my personal favorite scenes; this list will obviously not satisfy everyone's opinions but these are what I consider some of the best comedies that you must see.

1950's: Some Like It Hot.

"Some Like It Hot" is a hilarious film about two musicians who go on the run by joining an all female music group. But of course, living a double life can only go on for so long when you're a man and a woman.

1960's: Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb

Imagine the worst thing that has ever happened to you, then multiply it by 10, then multiply that by 100,000. That is exactly what happens in "Dr. Strangelove" when a mad general orders a nuclear attack on the U.S.S.R. Besides the hysterical confusion of political matters between characters this movie is filled to the brim with irony. Phenomenal movie to watch that reminds everyone there is no fighting in the war room.

1970's(A Golden Age): Blazing Saddles

Despite all the other comedies I could have chosen from the 1970's, especially Monty Python, I chose "Blazing Saddles" in honor of the late great Gene Wilder. Before you watch this movie you must release all of your politically correct feelings in order to enjoy and laugh at the good, the bad, and the ugly of the film. I give this movie nine out of ten "Hrumphs!".

1980's: Airplane!

"Airplane!," a personal favorite, is by far the punniest movie you'll ever watch featuring everything you hate about airports and flying in the mix. Now you may be asking me,"Surely you can't be serious?" but I am serious, mayband don't call me Shirley.

1990's: Happy Gilmore

Now, I am not the biggest Adam Sandler fan, but when it comes to "Happy Gilmore" this movie's combination of an underdog, violence, potty mouth, yelling at golf balls, and gator attacks truly creates a hilarious film. Almost every moment is filled with laughter, and what's not funny about Bob Barker being able to fight.

2000's: Meet the Parents

Personally, I find this movie very funny because of how it forces you to feel uncomfortable when a boyfriend is trying to win his girlfriend's father's blessing, who happens to be ex-CIA. Every slight mistake by Ben Stiller's character just makes. Interesting fact I learned from this movie: you can milk almost anything with nipples.

2010: Hail, Caesar!

And, for my final movie I chose "Hail, Caesar!," which is a mix of genres. Besides the hilarious comedy it has a bit of mystery to it as you follow along with the characters. To say the least this movie is "complicated" if you do not follow along.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
