Some people are obsessed with sports, fashion, photography- you name it. And that's so awesome. Having something you're passionate about is something you should be proud of.
For me, it's music. Ever since my freshman year of high school music has had such a positive impact on my life. I don't mean singing or playing an instrument (even though I can play the piano), I mean listening to and discovering new artists to jam to.
When many people listen to music, they enjoy whatever plays on the radio. That's absolutely fine and I do the same, but music means so much more to me than that. It's the lyrics, the bass, and the guitar all coming together creating amazing songs.
My friends often joke with me saying my music taste is "out there" just because it's not on the charts. My favorite genre's of music are indie-alternative, alt-pop, and reggae. But I know that the artists I listen to put so much work into their songs, and if you listen to their lyrics you can hear how meaningful they are.
I've been to countless concerts and each one has been the best experience of my life. Concerts are my happy place; you have thousands of people packed into an arena and you're all there for the same reason: to see an artist or band that you absolutely love.
Everything about them excites me- from waiting for the opening band to come on, to look at the crowd light up with their flashlights and lighters. For a few hours, all of your worries go away. And there's nothing like singing along to your favorite songs live.
Music truly brings people together, and I think that's an amazing thing. It's my escape when I'm stressed, happy, or just need to dance around like Meredith and Cristina in Grey's Anatomy. Because I love music so much, my dream is to one day work in the entertainment industry specifically for music. It's had such a positive impact on my life and right now, I can't picture my future career not involving it.
