I have a confession to make, and boy it's a doozie. I, Kirstie Rouse, am a freaking huge book worm. Shew, that feels better.

While I'm obsessed with books, I'm also obsessed with music (I read into lyrics as much as I read real books). You can only imagine my delight when I found out that there have been musicians to write books, and I don't mean biographies, I mean the good stuff like novels and poetry and comic books!

There are tons of musicians who are authors. Many of them write about their life on the road or their battle with drugs. If you're Gerard Way, you create a band of comic book superheroes. And if you're Henry Rollins, you have written a little bit of everything from poetry to travel literature. Those are a few of the bigger names. After some digging, I have found five musicians who have released all kinds of literature, that you may or may not know about.

1. Dan Campbell

Dan Campbell, of The Wonder Years fame, has made many of the articles I've posted on here (seriously, what can this man not do?) We all know that Campbell has a handle on character development just by looking at his Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties project, so it should come as no surprise that he published a book of poetry in 2008 titled Paper Boats or Some Poems I Wrote. Paper Boats has a feel similar to that of Bukowski, raw and emotional.

2. Max Bemis

Most people know him from being the vocalist in Say Anything. And then some know him as a lover and writer of many comic books. Bemis is a self professed fan of comic books and started writing his own back in 2013. His first was titled Polarity, which follows superhero Timothy Woods as he learns that his bipolar medication was suppressing his super powers. He continued his journey as a comic book writer by writing for the Crossed series, as well as a few others. Bemis is as great a writer as he is a musician, definitely someone to watch for in the future.

3. John Darnielle

John Darnielle is a name that is synonymous with indie rock and folk music, known for his work with his band The Mountain Goats. He has created characters and told stories with his music, so the obvious next step would be to write some books. Darnielle's first novel, Wolf in a White Van was released in 2014. It tells the story of a video game designer with a permanently disfigured face. Darnielle's next novel, Universal Harvester, is set to come out next month.

4. Mike Hranica

Remember when everyone wore bright skinny jeans and those multicolored band tees and the words on every scene kid's lips were The Devil Wears Prada? Yeah, me too. Did you also know that the band is still making music and more importantly, vocalist Mike Hranica has written a few books? If you didn't, you should because that man is equally talented as a writer as he is a musician. Hranica has written three books, including one novel titled Home For Grave. Home For Grave, which was released in 2013, takes a poetic look at the tragedy of a routine life.

5. Pete Wentz

At this point in our lives, Pete Wentz has become a household name to pop punk fans every where. We know him as the eyeliner and skinny jeans endorsing bassist of Fall Out Boy, but we should also know him as a talented writer. His most notable piece is an illustrated work titled The Boy With a Thorn in his Side, which chronicles the nightmares that Wentz had as a child.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
