I'm always listening to music. Usually I'm listening to ShowTunes or Alternative music, I just love the stories they tell. Here's a List of lyrics from Musicals and their origins that inspire me to get up in the morning and kick ass.
"You always are, what you always were". Company, Stephen Sondheim.
Company is a show I've been newly introduced to because my school is doing it, but this is a lyric I'm going to go back to when I start finding myself slipping away from my true self. This song is about a marriage and how your partner influences you, but I like to use it for my reasons too. (I realize this picture is from a different scene, but you catch my drift @FDUTheater
"Can we buck up just enough to see the world won't fall apart?" Dear Evan Hansen, Pasek and Paul, Steven Levenson.
This show has BLOWN up in the past year, and rightfully so. It's a pick me up like no other. Soemtimes we need to hear something like this, with all of the tragedy we are constantly hearing about in the world. Just a reminder that we are strong human beings can really take you far.
"Just look around at the world we're inheriting and think of the one we'll create", Newsies, Alan Menkin.
"And if it turns out, it's over too fast- I'll make every last moment last, as long as you're mine." Wicked, Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman.
Life is short, make every moment count. This might be a forbidden love song, but I love it an can apply it to almost anything.
"But all my days were twice as fair if I could share my days with you." Pippin, Stephen Schwartz and Roger O. Hirson.
Yet again, another love song. But, my family is really important to me and I always think of this song in the context of my family, especially my little sister. I always have a great day with her, even if it's just us sitting watching a TV show.
