We wouldn't be the same without you.

We all have had happy times, sad moments, angry feelings and nervous jitters. Regardless of the time, location, surrounding people or feelings, we can all say at one time or another, music has been there to guide us and help us. So, let's give a thank you to music.

Thank you for being around during those long road trips or short car rides with my friends. You were always so much fun to listen to. Blasting the new summer hit with the windows rolled down was a thrill ride. Without you, our car rides wouldn't have been as fun and full of laughter and memories.

Thank you for being there during my workouts. I don't mind exercising, however, you always made it 100 times better. With your upbeat, encouraging words and sound, it was easy for me to make it through my cardio of the day. You motivated me and I somehow managed to finish my workout.

Thank you for keeping me company during my late nights. Whether I was up late doing homework, I was having trouble falling asleep or my brain just wouldn't stop thinking, you were there to help me through my night. Your soothing sounds were perfect helping me concentrate on my homework or relaxing my mind from a long, hard day. Your lyrics were relatable to me and any person, which were comforting for someone whose mind was filled with many unexplainable thoughts.

Thank for you for being so important in movies and TV shows. There are so many types of movies like comedy, romance, horror or thriller. In every single movie, you are there! If it's a scary movie, your suspenseful sounds make the movie that much more intense. If it's a movie about love, usually you play some sort of slow, romantic song that makes the viewer cry a little more. Comedy movies are always funnier with your sound because of the choice of music.

Thank you for giving joy and pleasure to so many people who need your uplifting sound. You make it easier to get through difficult times and can help anyone who is feeling down or happens to be in an unfortunate circumstance. You help keep things calm, cool and collected, so thank you.

Thank you for existing. Without you, we wouldn't have concerts, artists or jobs related to music! This world would be bland and boring. YOU are the reason for our happiness. YOU make this world better during unfortunate times or enjoyable times. YOU keep a lot of people going just by your words and sound.

So thank you for everything you do and thank you for being around. No one would be the same without you. Thank you, music.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
