Music Must Haves

This summer has been far from normal, but the one thing that I find is getting me through all of the ups and downs is music. The past few months have been full of amazing new music releases. Along with that, I have found myself shuffling back through some old playlists during all of my freetime. Here are ten of my go to songs, soundtracks, and artists this summer!

  1. Summer Feelings by Lennon Stella featuring Charlie Puth
  2. Blue Collar Boys by Luke Combs
  3. Cigarettes on Patios by Baby Jake
  4. Sour Patch Kids by Bryce Vine
  5. Love Me Now by John Legend, and All Day Long by Chance the Rapper featuring John Legend
  6. Juice Wrld Legends Never Die Album
  7. Harry Styles Fine Line Album
  8. Pop Smoke
  9. Lil Uzi Eternal Atake Album
  10. Khalid

Each of these songs, albums and artists are definitely worth adding to your playlists this summer for the best vibes no matter what you are doing. I find that music has the ability to calm me down and brighten my day despite the stress or uncertainty surrounding me. Some honorable mentions I want to mention outside of this list are Tongue Tied by Grouplove, a song I forgot about but that never gets old. Another must listen, for history or broadway nerds like myself, is the Hamilton album. This album has been so fun to get back into with the movie coming out on Disney Plus. One more honorable mention is the artist Meg the Stallion. My girlfriends and I have been blasting her music in the car every chance we get, without fail we always get out of the car in a better mood than we all got in.

I hope you listen to some of these songs and add them to your queue! Step out of your comfort zone with your music and listen to some new or maybe old songs, it is a fun way to express yourself and find some light during these times! Happy listening!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
