If you're an incoming college student majoring in music, then you are probably well aware that we tend to have a plethora of other items to stress about than most other students. Especially being a freshman who is new to everything, plenty of thoughts run through our scattered minds. So without further ado, here are 10 thoughts freshmen music majors have.
1. Have an audition coming up? It's all that's on your mind.
Mmm, this cereal tastes like - audition.
2. Woah was that dude actually playing? Am I supposed to go to this school?
Maybe my major is supposed to be in sleeping...
3. What if my instrument decides not to work one minute before class/lesson/big audition?
So sorry...my dog ate my clarinet.
4. Wait, I have a class that's not in the music building? Where am I going?
I guess I'll follow all these other lost freshmen.
5. Thank you summer vacation for letting my brain forget almost all basic music concepts.
Can I just tattoo the circle of fifths on my arm please?
6. New to piano class? Just a reminder there are eighty-eight keys and you have only ten fingers.
And yet, the guy next to me plays like Mozart.
7. What if i accidentally steal someone's designated practice room and they kill me?
I'm only a first year please pity me.
8. What happens if I actually play something really good and then everybody thinks I'm trying to draw attention to myself?
What a show off.
9. Oh my gosh there's the director of bands. Should I bow? Salute? Offer a gift?
Or I'll just stare in awe and hope they remembered my name.
