To The Music Junkie Looking For New Tunes

Even though we're in 2018 some songs from 2017 are meant to stick around.

Since it is the first month of the new year and we all love music, I decided to put together a list of 5 songs that have been my go-to for many different reasons so far !

1. Bellyache by Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish is the coolest artist I've seen in a while, at only 16 years old. She has such a unique style and her voice is magical. Billie's music can be heard in the popular Netflix series 13 Reasons Why. She is signed to Interscope records and her EP don't smile at me is to die for!

2. Lay It On Me by Vance Joy

Singer of the popular song Riptide, Vance Joy, knows how to pull at the heart strings. I am huge fan of this Australian singer-songwriter. Lay It On Me makes me feel like going on a road trip with the windows down, with the love of my life. This is one of those tunes that make me feel warm and my heart full. What's better than that?

3. Jungle by Tash Sultana

Here's another Aussie singer-songwriter to add to this list. Tash Sultana is one of the most talented singers and multi-intstrumentalist I have seen in a long time. She has so much soul whenever she performs, which is why I had to include a live version of her performing my favorite song off of her EP Notion. It's almost as if she is making love to the music, but I mean I can hear why. THAT GUITAR IS EVERYTHING! Tash is definitely someone who makes my days better, I can't wait to see her live at Hangout Fest.

4. Notion by Tash Sultana

I had to add another one because I am just that much of a fan of her music. This is another live video and one of my favorites at that. I think it's magical how the guy across the street watches her in a state of awe and then as the last bus passes he's just gone. He didn't record her once, but I'm sure he will always remember her.

5. Get You (ft. Kali Uchis) by Daniel Caesar

Canadian R&B and soul singer-songwriter Daniel Caesar makes some of the smoothest R&B that I've heard in a long time. He truly has a beautiful voice. Get You is my favorite song by him. This tune makes me want a glass of wine and nice warm bubble bath.

I know some of these songs aren't for everyone, but these songs are at the top of my list this year even though they are from 2017. Some things are just meant to stick around ;)

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
