Music Is Always There For You, No Matter What

Seriously.

Music Is Always There For You, No Matter What

I'm obsessed with music.

Always have been and always will be.

I was basically in the womb when I was first exposed to music, and grew up listening to artists like The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Elton John, Queen... the list goes on for miles.

I mostly have my dad to thank for that. My mom contributed her favorite artists as well, but my dad is the ultimate fan of rock and roll.

You would think that since I grew up listening to so much music that I'd be sick of it, but that's actually not the case.

I've grown to appreciate the art of it, get lost in it, and have it help me through some of my darkest (and even most happiest) of times.

There's a song for every emotion you can feel, there's lyrics to describe everything you're going through, and there's beats that can make you want to get up and dance or cry everything out.

My obsession with music (mostly starting to discover it on my own) began while I was in the seventh grade. I followed an influencer that I thought was super cool and basically tried to mimic her style, and whenever she posted about songs she liked, of course I had to listen.

That's when I heard a song called 'No Light, No Light' by Florence and the Machine. It was unlike any other song I've heard and I became instantly obsessed and listened to the rest of her discography.

Florence led me to discover other artists like Lana Del Rey, Lorde, Bon Iver... up to artists that are popular now like Billie Eilish, Twenty One Pilots, and The 1975.

Music is my life. It's something that will always be there for you and can make you feel like you have something that can relate to what you're going through.

Music is a powerful thing, and I'll always be grateful for it.

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
