Our Pets Don't Like Our Music

What do our pets like to listen to anyway?

We all love to cuddle up with our little furry friends while listening to our favorite songs, but did you ever wonder whether your pets like the same music as you?!

Believe it or not, pets (specifically cats) enjoy music but prefer a different kind of jam. Most of our pets at home enjoy more classical music and symphonies with a lot of piano. This style of music creates a very calming effect for pets and helps them relax, which can be good for stressful situations such as thunderstorms, construction, or even when you leave the house.

There are now composers who write music specifically designed for the cat listeners out there. They base the music off of the range of the cat's hearing, and even sounds they hear from the wild. According to PBS, cats like this music because it has similar frequencies and tempos that other species use for communication.

I wanted to see how true the idea that cats actually enjoy this style music is, so I played this for my two rescue cats that tend to have high anxiety. Instantly they both became intrigued by the music and started purring. Within a few minutes, they both were cuddled up to me with half shut eyes, wanting belly rubs.

I believe that this music is great for all pets, and there are even variations of it that you can play for them. For example, if you want to play with them, put on a song that has a bit faster tempo. Our pets are pretty much just like us, except with way more sensitive senses, so keep that in mind next time you're deep into a project, music blasting, with your fur babies in the house. Give this video a shot and see if it relaxes your cats!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
