While some genres of music can be very annoying to blast while you're trying to get stuff done (i.e. while writing a research paper or trying to catch up at lunch with a friend), music can be played smartly. As in, it can be used for motivation, which in turn can maximize productivity.
Imagine a scenario where you're at the gym, doing cardio on the treadmill. That's when music can without a doubt keep you going, even through mile number three. When you're busy listening to the lyrics and beats of each song on your playlist, you probably wouldn't pay much attention to your rapidly beating heart or the sweat dripping off your face.
If you’re just starting to work out & the going gets seriously tough, crank up the tunes.
Basically, music completely distracts you from the fact that you’re working your butt off. Plus, the lyrics can be pretty motivating. "Work, work, work, work, work."
The first thing to do the next time you walk into the gym? Put your playlist on shuffle and turn it up. It’ll be fun!
When you do, you'll no longer be unmotivated, burnt out or bored during your gym session.
When it comes to studying, listening to music isn't always a bad idea. It's important to know about your own work habits - try different types of music and figure out which genre of music works for you! For example, a lot of people swear that classical music makes them more productive. While that doesn't work for me, I've found that tropical house music makes studying a breeze in my case. Don’t let anyone tell you that music distracts from focusing or studying!
When used appropriately, music can help you conquer pretty much anything.
