You may be a music junkie if you're constantly checking Spotify for new music, scouring YouTube for something you've never heard before, or refreshing the lineup page every second on Coachella's website. If so, you're probably wondering what's in store for 2017 with regards to music. Here are some confirmed rumors about what's coming to your ears soon.
1. Lady Gaga to perform at the Super Bowl LI halftime show
After singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in 2016, Lady Gaga is back to headline the halftime show at which Coldplay, Bruno Mars and Beyonce all performed last year. The news was announced September 2016 when Lady Gaga tweeted, "It's not an illusion. The rumors are true. This year the SUPER BOWL goes GAGA!" There are swirling speculations as to the theme of her show, but no one puts it past her to make it a theatrical performance.
2. AFI to release their tenth studio album
Self-titled AFI, and also referred to as The Blood Album, the band is planning to release their newest recording on January 20. The recording contains 14 songs, including singles "Snow Cats" and "White Offerings." AFI has been together since 1991 but did not find success until their fifth album The Art of Drowning was released in 2000. Since then, two albums, Sing the Sorrow and Decemberunderground, have earned Platinum certification.
3. New album coming from Brad Paisley
The popular country singer Brad Paisley, known for singles "Remind Me" and "Whiskey Lullaby," is due to release a new recording called Love and War on March 3. According to Paisley, it will include recent singles "Today" and "Without a Fight," the latter of which features Demi Lovato. This will be his 11th studio album and is rumored to include the voices of Mick Jagger and Timbaland.
4. Coachella already sold out
The Coachella music festival, located in California, released its final 2017 lineup on January 3 and a completely sold out website swiftly followed. Among its biggest performers this year are Beyonce, Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, Bon Iver, and Lorde. Since its inception in 1999, Coachella has become one of the biggest and most anticipated music festivals in the US.
5. Charli XCX's third release in May
Charli XCX has almost become a household name after just a few years of being in mainstream pop music. Her career had a major takeoff after featuring on Iggy Azalea's "Fancy" in early 2014, and the release of Charli XCX's own song "Boom Clap" skyrocketed her fame, earning her Platinum certification in Australia. Her newest studio album is not yet named but will include her most recent single "After the Afterparty," released in late October 2016.
6. Bella Thorne revealed to be working on a 2017 release
The 19-year-old actress from Disney's Shake It Up has confirmed rumors of new music to be released in 2017 via Twitter, tweeting "it's true." Thorne is primarily an actress at the moment, but she's explored the music scene before with her two EPs Made in Japan and Jersey. Her voice has also been featured on multiple soundtrack albums from Shake It Up.
7. Music festivals galore this year
Coachella is definitely not the country's only music festival this year. Other big festivals include Warped Tour, Bonnaroo, and Lollapalooza. Warped Tour is set to begin in Seattle on June 16 and wrap up on August 6 in Los Angeles, and is expected to release the official lineup and begin ticket sales in late March. Bonnaroo, located in Manchester, TN, will release its lineup on January 11, with some speculating possible headliners to include U2 and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Lollapalooza will take place in Chicago as usual and is set for August 3-6, but no word yet on the lineup or tickets.
