On June 3, 2016, America lost a legend. No, I'm not talking about Prince, who will be forever missed. I'm talking about Muhammad Ali. A man of many talents, but a man with a heart of gold. He changed the way the world looked at boxing, and even how boxers looked at the sport. He was a social activist working for the good of others. In honor of his death, here are 14 reasons why Muhammad Ali's legacy will forever live on.

1. He changed boxing forever.

Boxing wasn't all about beating the opponent to oblivion, but rather about showing one's cunning and ability to be fluid.

2. He never let his illness get the best of him.

He suffered from Parkinson's disease, but enjoyed the time he had while putting up a great fight until the end.

3. He was a family man.

Married four times and a father of nine children.

4. His daughter, Laila, is the spitting image of her father.

Laila became a boxer herself with a record as striking as her father's; she was undefeated. She also became an advocate and fundraiser for research regarding Parkinson's disease, in honor of her father.

5. He was an Olympian.

An Olympic gold medal at age 18; what a great way to make a name for himself.

6. He holds one of the greatest records.

Five losses for his entire career. Talk about a legacy!

7. He didn't let religion define him.

Born into a Christian family, it was his personal choice to convert to Islam. He made sure that he was recognized for his athleticism and social activism rather than what he believed in.

8. He was extremely opinionated and outspoken.

Muhammad Ali spoke his mind, and made sure to make it known that he didn't care what others thought of him.

9. He was a world traveler.

What better way to change the world than to see all the world has to offer.

10. His quotes will forever be a reminder.

"Even the greatest was once a beginner. Don't be afraid to take that first step."

11. He reminds us that it's OK to be a little different and to challenge the status quo.

He chose to become a boxer at age 12 and converted to Islam around age 18. After that, he was set to do whatever he wanted to do and however he wanted to do it.

12. He has a street named after him in his hometown of Louisville, Ky.

Muhammad Ali Boulevard.

13. The Muhammad Ali Center.

It embodies all that he stood for: good boxing, peace, respect, personal growth, and social responsibility

14. His name.

From Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr. to Muhammad Ali, this legend had it in the making from day one.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
