5 Dorm Room Mug Recipes That Will Not Let You Down

Let's face it, if you are lucky enough to have an oven in your college dorm or apartment, baking can be fun, but it can also be very time consuming and messy. Plus, most recipes make several servings that tend to be too much if you are just looking to serve yourself. After trying several recipes, here are five single-serving mug recipes that you can make in the microwave of your dorm room that I am sure will not let you down.

1. Blueberry Muffin in a Mug

Who doesn't love a blueberry muffin in the morning for breakfast? This recipe I love and uses ingredients that you probably already have most of lying around your dorm room. It is also super healthy and is paleo, vegan, and gluten-free.

2. Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Mug

Chocolate chip cookies are a favorite classic dessert of mine so I wasn't sure how one would turn out in a mug, but this recipe is surprisingly fantastic. The cookie is nicely crisp on the top and sides of the mug and perfectly soft in the middle.

3. Cinnamon Roll in a Mug

This cinnamon roll in a mug recipe makes two rolls: one for you and a friend, so if you are looking to just serve yourself just simply half the recipe. I personally found this recipe is super easy to make and saves you the most time out of all of these recipes if you were to be making a regular batch.

4. Banana Bread in a Mug

Banana bread has been one of my favorite recipes to bake for a while, and this mug recipe tastes almost identical to what you would bake in the oven. It uses ingredients you most likely already have and is perfect to make to use up any last ripe bananas you may have.

5. Brownie in a Mug

This brownie in a mug recipe tastes amazing and generates a pretty big single serving. It has such a rich flavor and comes out of the microwave with a finished texture that is almost the same as a typical brownie. If you are looking to satisfy your sweet tooth and love chocolate, this is the recipe to make!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
