A Much Needed Thank You To The#1 Roommate

I may forget to say it, but my girl has been there for me through the pretty and the ugly (lots of ugly), and I couldn't be more grateful!

For most college students, their first roommate will not be the one they continue to share a room with, which is perfectly okay; however, for me it was. After going from being complete strangers to living together for the last two years during this crazy college journey, I feel so lucky to have had you by my side every morning and night. Before we start the next half of building our debt, I would like to take a moment to thank you for everything and say that I’ll be here whenever you need me!

  • Thank you for coming to my rescue every time I have forgotten my key and ID card (pawpass).
  • Thank you for supporting my obsession with Friends and for also loving the magic of Gossip Girl… especially during finals week.
  • Thank you for leaving me alone when I needed my space.
  • But also, thank you for being my own personal therapist during the nights when I felt the need to vent.
  • Thank you for listening to all of my trivial rants, whether they had to do with my group projects or the girl who took the last of the berries at the dining hall.
  • Thank you for NOT being a morning person, and for always trudging alongside me to our 8 a.m. classes.
  • Thank you for being my college mom and for always giving me wise advice (like telling me not go out to a party when I had a paper to do), and for taking care of me when I was sick.
  • Thank you for tolerating my bizarre taste of music.
  • Thank you for not only letting me take random naps, but for also doing the same with your 3pm siestas.
  • Thank you for never getting mad at me when I stumbled into the dorm late at night when you were trying to sleep. I’m so sorryyyyy.
  • Also, thank you for always checking up on me when it was late and I wasn’t back yet (GURL, where you at?)
  • Thank you for being just as bad of a procrastinator as I am and for staying up with me to finish work so I wouldn’t be alone.
  • Thank you for eating snacks with me at 1 a.m. (even though we both knew it was a completely horrible idea).
  • Thank you for never scolding me when my side of the room got just a little bit too messy.
  • Thank you for always being such an amazing host to all of my friends even though they’re completely crazy. Sometimes, I think they like you more than they like me…
  • Thank you for making our dorm feel like a home and for tackling all the struggles of college life with me.
  • Thank you for all the crazy “so college” adventures and nights we’ve shared together that maybe will make a good story to tell the kids about one day.
  • But more importantly, thank you, for being my biggest supporter in and out of the dorm.

I can’t wait for this next year because I cannot imagine being in that apartment with anyone else. Here’s to more adventures, more late nights, and more memories!

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
