Dear iPhone:

You are truly one of the greatest things to have entered my life. You manage my life, control my boredom, and give me access to a whole world of possibilities, but there are other things I haven't thanked you for.

Thank you for making awkward family gatherings easier to get away from.

Thank you for getting me out of some awkward situations with the push of a couple buttons - seriously, if it wasn't for you I would have definitely had a terrible time with those few instances I used you in an emergency; during a date, a party, and even when I just needed to talk to someone.

Thank you for making my selfie game perfect, and my artsy photos ten times more appealing. Like, your camera is just so addicting.

Thank you for making facebook stalking ten times easier with your mostly fast speeds.

Thank you for giving me access to my bank account with just my fingerprint. Not to mention helping me save money with useful apps, such as Digit - thank you again.

Thank you for making my job searches in the past few years easier and more enjoyable.

Thank you for notifying me about breaking news right when it happens, since I can't sit on a computer or watch TV all day.

Thank you for giving me good lighting when I have to walk to my car at night, or anywhere really.

Thank you for making online shopping so easy. I can browse all my shopping apps for hours.

Thank you so much for routing me with your maps, with British Siri telling me where to go.

Lastly, thank you for being reliable.

Sincerely;

A Satisfied iPhone User

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
