For those of you that decided to make the trip out to a Kanye concert, you will understand just how LIT it was. For those of us who showed up to the Cleveland show, we had a pretty rough start to our evening with Yeezy. The ticket system that the Quicken Loans Arena uses, called FlashSeats completely crashed when the doors opened at 7 and nobody’s tickets were working. What did that mean? All of us had to form a line and wait for the box office people to come up with their laptops and look everyone up, one by one.
Everyone was very frustrated and all entrances to the arena had easily hundreds of people waiting, furiously. Why have these “futuristic” ticketing systems if it is going to crash at one of the most highly anticipated concerts in Cleveland this year? Why not just keep it old school and give us paper tickets? Well, after about an hour of waiting, it was finally time to make my way to my seat. The excitement was brewing because I knew that Kanye was going to have something up his sleeve for this show. After another hour of waiting because of the hundreds of people still not in yet, they show finally began! The energy was ALIVE in that arena, especially with all of the Cavalier players in attendance and some members of the Kardashian family.
Kanye came out and did something that I have never done before; his stage was suspended from the jumbotron in the arena. Throughout his songs, he floated across the floor and above all of the fans that bought floor tickets. I would even classify his concert as a light show to some extent, the way he coordinated the lights with his music was just magical and powerful. His whole concert sent a message to the crowd like none other. I’m not much of a fan of Kanye as a person, but musically he is a genius and he is going to continue to do great things for the rest of his career.
