Move On and Move Up: A Happy Life

199
Moving On and Moving Up

Life is full of meeting different people, seeing different places and experiencing different things. It is a mixture of continuums and endings; however, the important thing to remember is that everything in life happens for a reason.

Some people are placed in your life in order to help us learn a lesson, to bring us to a certain place, or to give us certain experiences. They may not always be the best or most positive, but they provide a value within your life nonetheless.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that regardless of the people you’ve lost or the places you’ve left, that loss is sometimes for the best.

If you feel constricted by a certain person or place, you are under no obligation to keep them in your life or continue to reside there. You are obligated to put yourself first and to do what makes you happy. You only have one life - don’t waste it being unhappy.

Look at it as a cleanse, a fresh start. Take the opportunity to move on and move up. You do not deserve an individual who cannot appreciate you, someone who hurts you -mentally or physically- or someone who cannot recognize how they mistreat you. You do not deserve a place that makes you feel trapped, lost or without a purpose.

You deserve individuals who raise you up, bring out your best self and hold your best interests at heart. You deserve a place that feels like home, that makes you feel safe and that fills your heart with comfort.

Life is short, do not waste it on moments or people or places that do not fulfill you. There are plenty of individuals and places that you have yet to meet/see - so explore them. Do what makes you happy. Do what makes you smile the brightest. Do what makes you you.

Move on from the things that hurt you. Move on from the people who make you feel like a lesser. Move on from the places that make you feel hopeless.

Move up.

Get rid of the negativity so you have room to fill it with happiness and love.

And make sure you’re giving others the same love and respect you expect them to give you.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
