Most of us have had to move at one point in our lives, and it's literally one of the most stressful circumstances. Not only do you have to move all your sh*t to a new place, BUT you also have to scrub the old place in hopes of getting your security deposit back. And everyone knows, it's super unlikely to receive all of a security deposit back. Especially if you live in a place as garbage as 13th & Olive (stay tuned for an article all about that...). I recently moved into a third-floor apartment with no elevator and after that, I NEVER want to move again.
1. Moving pushes your body past physical exhaustion
GiphyNo matter how exhausted you are, there is a time limit on this move and you will have to work your booty off to finish in time! During my last move, every trip up the stairs exhausted me. But the move must go on!
2. EVERYONE is bitchy on moving day
GiphyMoving really brings out the worst in people. Suddenly, I'm more easily irritated and a total b*tch to be around as soon as moving day happens.
3. If you move during the summer, EVERYTHING IS SWEATY
GiphyMoving during the summer is the absolute worst!! You're dripping with sweat and having to chug water after carrying one thing up all the stairs. Remember to stay hydrated and take breaks if you can!
4. Moving is literally a workout
GiphyAfter spending two days moving all of my sh*t (including furniture) to my third-floor apartment, my entire body felt like it went through the most intense workout of all time. I was physically exhausted and couldn't bother to unpack for the next two days.
5. Cleaning the old apartment after moving out
GiphyWe all want our security deposits back and most of us will do whatever it takes to get it back. At my last place, my roommates and I were cleaning until 2:30 in the morning and none of us are getting our security deposits. All of us actually ended up OWING money! Sometimes, we do all the cleaning we can and it STILL isn't good enough for the apartment complex...
Regardless, I always feel like Spongebob in a rush to clean my apartment before finally turning in the keys.
6. The final realization that moving is worth it and you love your new place
GiphyEverything is good again and your body no longer hurts. You get to decorate your new place and arrange it, however, you want and you discover moving is pretty cool sometimes.
