Where to begin....

It was during my sophomore year of high school when I applied and started my first job. I recall my family being ecstatic over the fact that I took a step into the real world; especially my granddad. As for me, I was excited about the fact that I would have my own stream of income. That much is a given.

Little did I realize, however, that this job would be responsible for a sizable portion of my individual growth. It was also responsible for establishing relationships that I will forever cherish.

What exactly did I do for 5 years? I worked in a grocery store (Kroger) and was what most would consider a bagger. True to the title, I bagged groceries and hauled in carts from the parking lot. Additionally, I spent a significant portion of my time doing bottle work and taking care of most utility duties around the store. To some, this has translated to me taking on more than I should...

I never minded that to be honest. I never minded taking on the role of a bagger, even after being there long enough to move up in the company. Some might be reading this and wonder why did I stay in the entry level position for so long.

My reasons vary, but I eventually came to realize how humbling the position was. I entered Kroger with the goal of gaining income and experience. Instead, I'm leaving with both of these and an ever growing desire to serve others.

I would not have made it this far if it weren't for my co-workers:

Thank you for understanding that my schooling came first.

Thank you for hearing my goals.

Thank you for pushing me towards my goals.

Thank you for supporting me during hard times.

Thank for you the opportunity to serve and learn.

Thank you for preparing me for greater opportunities.

Thank you my friends for all that you do and will continue to do. I will never forget what these last few years have taught me.

My God be with you and all that you do!

5 Untold Struggles Of The Short Friend

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone
Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
