Need an emotional break? Sometimes, all it takes is a good movie to feel rejuvenated. After such a draining quarter, I came home more exhausted than expected. I locked myself in my room, and have not gotten up. Since these times can be a socially draining, with family and finals all at the same time, I decided to make a list of my favorite 'feel good' movies that anyone can enjoy!
1. "Sweet Home Alabama"
Winter in Florida is 70 degrees of no humidity! Don't get me wrong, I love being home, but I wouldn't have appreciated it half as much, had I not decided to go to school in Chicago. You know that saying, "you don't realize what you have until it's gone", well yeah I feel that. Not only will you be thrown back into the style of the early 2000s, but you will realize that no matter how hard you try to leave your childhood behind and go to a big city, you always end up coming home!
2. "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion"
Most underrated movie. 6 more years until my 10 year high school reunion, THIS IS NOT A DRILL. If you're lucky, it won't be awkward and it'll actually be fun!
3. "Can't Buy Me Love"
Are you thinking Beatles? Because if you are, then you're correct! Remember Olive from "Easy A", and wanting to "ride off on a lawnmower with Patrick Dempsey", this is what she was talking about. I guess 90% of 80s movie show chivalry as being alive. If you're having a hard time believing it is alive, then perhaps you're not in the right place, or it takes longer than expected.
4. "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"
I actually watched this movie when I was 7 years old. This is my dad's favorite movie, therefore my favorite movie. I didn't understand what it meant at the time, but now knowing what it stands for, makes me feel very close to my dad.
5. "That Night 1992"
I found this movie on accident. I don't really remember how I came upon it, I just know that it was missing from my life. Not only is this an insight into the good ol' days, but the truth that was also part of being a teenager.
6. "John Tucker Must Die"
I actually know all the words to this movie, it's actually kinda creepy. The ending always gets me, and I'm not quite sure how to feel about it. Fun fact Ashanti is the one that sings foolish, so you're welcome! I've been waiting for the sequel to this, but I guess I will always be disappointed.
7. "Raise Your Voice"
I recently rewatched this, and I was so struck at how different this movie is that I remembered it. I was in 5th grade when I watched it, so I mean it makes since. This movie is so 2000s, it hurts! Probably one of Hilary Duff's greatest movie!!
8. "10 Things I Hate About You"
"The Taming of the Shrew" is my favorite Shakespearean play. I know Romeo and Juliet is popular or whatever, but this one is my favorite! Could you believe my face when I found out that this movie was actually based off the play? I almost cried.
9. "What a Girl Wants"
Amanda Bynes in her prime! I probably have seen this movie about 36 times! I always thought how cool it must of been to be that young and grow up in NYC and then move to London, I mean what?! That's literally a dream come true!
10. "Empire Records"
Warning, this movie is a little intense. I mean it's amazing, but it's like a roller coaster! You're happy, then angry, then sad, then frustrated, then sad, then laughing, just to want to rip off your hair all at once!
