It all started when I was out running errands looking for a gift for my cousin’s birthday. My husband called me on his lunch to ask what time I get off of work in the evening, I answer him so he asks if I want to go to the movies and I replied sure. I haven’t gone to the movies in a while because I'm busy. Besides, I haven’t really seen a movie that caught my interest. When I am ready to see a movie I usually look in to the movie and cast. I’ve been out of the "going to the movie" scene for a while now.

I didn’t have the time to look up the movie so I was blindsided when I arrived into the theater feeling a little anxious I just kept telling myself to enjoy it anyway it is fun to be out. As we drove closer to the theater we saw this really long line and said wow it’s packed. We both also agreed it was Thursday night and the cost for the movies is $5 who can beat that.

As Danny and I are waiting in line to pay a gentleman who works for the theater walks out and loudly says “if you’re here for Split tickets for the 7’O clock showing are sold out.” I looked at Danny and asked him what is split? I was curious about what the movie is about so I immediately got on my phone to look it up. Oh my am I amazed Split is about an individual dealing with Dissociative Identity disorder (DIS). I am so interested I wanted to stay after the Live by Night movie but it was too late. But it is now on my list of to see movies as soon as possible.

Any way back to Live by Night, Danny and I are in line to purchase some snacks before we sit and watch the movie. We get our seats and watch all the lame previews it seemed that not many people have new ideas in the movie world. Anyways the movie begins and Danny and I realize we had to stop eating our nachos because we couldn’t hear anything, no loud IMAX here, (laughing ha-ha).

It starts off with Ben Affleck’s voice talking about leaving to become a soldier in 1919 upon returning to America he returned as someone different. The movie starts off really slow but then it gets good, it takes place is Boston, MA then moves to Tampa, FL... Murder and kills, bank robberies and the prohibition before president Roosevelt, a love affair gone really bad and the real master mind of becoming a gangster, The kkk and some real discrimination against brown and black. The movie caught my interest once I saw Ben Affleck. I’ve been a fan of his since Dazed and Confused, and I’ve watched Chasing Amy a million times. I love Ben Affleck even after his hook up with Jennifer Lopez, gross by the way. Point is if you have the time and are in the mood for a 1900’s movie let Live by Night be your choice and let me know your perspective on it.

Happy Movie Watching!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
