Movies That Should Be Made in the Star Wars Universe

The galaxy far far away has many stories to tell but which ones should make it to the big screen?

Movies That Should Be Made in the Star Wars Universe

Just a few days ago, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hit theaters worldwide and marked the second film to come about into existence since Disney acquired the rights to Star Wars back in late 2012. The supposed plan, so long as the success thrives and continues on, is to release a new film every year until the end of time. Actually to be perfectly honest, that last part is a lie because plans always change. But if this idea works, what films could we see aside from the inevitable saga films including episodes VIII and IX? To those unfamiliar with the world of the galaxy far far away, the universe is vast and full of mythology to explore! Let's see some concepts that could work in the future as feature films someday.

AN OBI-WAN SOLO MOVIE

Whether it be during the Clone Wars or the period of time in isolation between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, there are many stories to tell through the eyes of Ben Kenobi. His character is one of the most compelling in Star Wars and it'd be awesome to see Ewan McGregor return to the iconic role. The idea of seeing a bleak galaxy void of Jedi due to the events of Order 66 fresh out the gate is also an idea worth exploring.

AN OLD REPUBLIC MOVIE

Reaching into the history of the universe, there is plenty of history amongst the Jedi and the Sith thousands of years before the stories we've seen in the first seven films. Fans of the old novels and video games know that there are many stories deserving of spotlight in cinematic form. It's just a matter of which ones filmmakers will hopefully choose!

A DARTH PLAGUEIS MOVIE

Emperor Palpatine once told a very vulnerable Anakin Skywalker, the story of Darth Plagueis and his tale of saving others from death but not himself. In fact, it is said that his betraying apprentice was a young Palpatine. To see his rise to power in the Republic and the fall of his master would be story worth telling in movie form in my eyes!

A CLONE WARS MOVIE

Despite an incredible animated series already existing, I believe a live action story within the Clone Wars could be a great potential idea. More specifically, to delve into the complex relationship between Anakin Skywalker and his padawan Ahsoka Tano would serve the cinematic platform tremendously. The Clone Wars and Rebels animated shows both expand the profound nature of their paths but why not expand further in live-action?

A MOVIE BETWEEN EPISODES VI & VII

Around 30 years passed between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, so what happened during those three decades? There are various elements to explore including the aftermath of the Empire's demise, Luke Skywalker's school of Jedi training, General Leia's political struggles, the rise of the First Order, and the rise of the Resistance. Perhaps we can witness these elements in an organic way of storytelling through new characters born within this time period! This newly born era in Star Wars history may not be explored for years but one day, it's a time in history I want to see more of.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
