Happy holidays everyone! We’re currently in the time period where we stop worrying about school and block out anything that sounds even remotely academic related. Math? What even is that? “Chemistry’s the one with the shapes and sh*t, right?”

With that being said, I’m sure many of us have already had our days where we don’t know what to do except stare blankly at the ceiling and wonder what TV series we’re gonna start next. Well, look no further because here are two movies and one TV show that’s going to blow your mind and change your life.

1. "Dead Poets Society"

This is a classic movie from 1989 starring the late Robin Williams (bless his soul). I was first introduced to this movie in my English class during my junior year of high school, and let me tell you… I was not expecting to like it. To be honest, I wasn’t even expecting to pay attention in that class, but for some reason, I did.

Don’t get put off by the fact that this movie came out in 1989. It was beautifully crafted and the moral of the story is absolutely incredible. I won’t spoil anything, but in this movie, you follow Professor Keating (Robin Williams) and his rather unorthodox methods for teaching students.

If you want to become a teacher in the future, this movie is a MUST. Even if you don’t want to become a teacher, this movie will truly inspire you and tug at your heart-strings (I actually ended up bawling my eyes out by the end of this movie in class… embarrassing).

2. "Hidden Figures"

Now moving onto a more recent movie, you may have heard of "Hidden Figures," which stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monáe. These women tell the untold stories of three brilliant African-American women who worked for NASA during the Space Race time period.

In this movie, you are bound to feel inspired, enraged at the discrimination they face on a daily basis, touched, and warm-hearted.

I’ve watched this movie at least three times within the past two months, and I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone, even if you are not a space or math geek.

3. The Good Doctor

So we’re gonna shift gears a little bit and turn our attention to a TV show called "The Good Doctor."

In this series, we follow the inspirational journey of Shaun Murphy, an autistic surgeon with savant syndrome.

Similarly to "Hidden Figures," you are definitely going to feel a variety of different emotions while watching this show. You get to see the discrimination Shaun must experience on a daily basis for being “different” from the norm, yet you also get to witness amazing miracles and actions.

Unfortunately, this show is not complete and is currently in the process of being filmed and released. However, it definitely means you get to look forward to a new episode every week! This is truly an inspirational TV show that demonstrates how we can all face hardship and be the person who comes out on top.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
