I have never paid much attention to the importance of police codes. Honestly, I cannot tell you a single police code (but in my defense, I am not a trained police officer). However, after watching the movie "Triple 9," there is now one police code I know:

999- OFFICER DOWN!

"Triple 9" was released on February 26, 2016 and was directed by John Hillcoat. This movie is considered a crime thriller drama film, and in my opinion, this is an appropriate genre. To no surprise, "Triple 9" is rated R due to the amount of nudity, profanity, and other adult content featured within the movie.

The movie centers around five main characters: Michael Belmont, Russell Welch, his brother Gabe Welch, Marcus Atwood, and Jorge Rodriguez. Belmont and the Welch brothers are criminals whereas Atwood and Rodriguez are corrupt police officers. The five men are summoned to perform a heist and retrieve information for a woman with relations to a powerful Russian Mafia. When the heist is successfully completed, the woman withholds the reward money and assigns the men to another mission. With their new mission, the movie takes a turn for the worst and features a series of murders and plot twists!

The notable cast features many Hollywood favorites such as Casey Affleck (who most people know as the brother of Ben Affleck), Chiwetel Ejiofor, Anthony Mackie, Woody Harrelson, and Kate Winslet. It is clear that the correct actors and actresses were chosen for their respective roles. The cast worked well together to produce an outstanding movie!

While I enjoyed mainly all aspects about "Triple 9" (and that is saying a lot because I normally don't enjoy movies of this caliber), my only complaint would be the ending. The ending is probably the biggest plot twist in the entire movie! The ending will leave the viewer reevaluating the whole movie (and let's not forget that it will take you about an hour and a half to even reach this point). The viewer will question everything they thought they knew during the duration of the movie. The ending of "Triple 9" will definitely leave someone in a severe state of confusion.

Overall, "Triple 9" is by far one of the greatest movies to be released in 2016! I'd rate it a solid four and a half stars and would definitely recommend everyone to go watch it. Call up some friends, order your tickets, and make sure to enjoy the movie!
