Who You Gonna Call?

Movie Review: Ghostbusters Answer The Call

So, this movie has already come and gone from theaters. However, this movie was just released to DVD. I figured since most of us are prepping for Christmas and would rather buy a movie or stream it, that I would start including other movies that have been out for a little while.

Ghostbusters did a lot better than I thought it would. I saw quite a few negative things, but after watching it, I was impressed. While I was disappointed that this was a reboot of the series it still had shining moments.

One of my favorite characters was probably Patty (Leslie Jones). She kept the excitement and laughs going continuously, even if they were just small lines. The other characters did great, but Patty was by far one of the best.

At the same time, I very much disliked Kevin (Chris Hemsworth). While I liked the fact that they swapped the roles on the standard secretaries in movies, but I did not like the way they played Kevin. It went from silly mishaps to someone who couldn't even tie their own shoes. It got boring for me very quickly, and Chris Hemsworth is nice to look at so getting bored at him is hard to do.

I would have to say though, that the best thing was probably the cameos and little things to honor the original series. My favorite piece was probably scene when Abby (Melissa McCarthy) and Erin (Kristen Wiig) were in the office when speaking with the president of the university. There is something in the hallway when the camera passes the door. I won't completely spoil it, but I think it was one of the best easter eggs, and it was a great way to honor one of the original Ghostbusters, Harold Ramis.

Now other than than the decent casting and nice throwbacks, the move was pretty much just a rehash of the original. I will give it props that it was not nearly as bad as most critics proclaimed, but it wasn't top notch. I would say maybe B- material. So if you are considering getting this movie, I would recommend it. Story issues were minor, but overall it gave the original Ghostbusters justice and is worth a watch. I give it a

B-

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
