Whether you're a bookworm like Belle, a prince like Beast, or even a singer like everyone in the film, you are sure to expect everything and more while watching Beauty and the Beast. For someone who has seen the original countless times, I was surely glad to see a lot of the same things in this live action film of a cherished Disney Movie.
If this is your first time watching Beauty and the Beast, and you've never seen the original, trust me you are okay...slightly out of the loop, oh since 1991, but you're okay.
I will say that I was slightly upset over a certain aspect from the original film that didn't make the cut in this film. I won't say exactly what, but it definitely has to do with books. (Okay so maybe a slight spoiler) However I will admit, when it get's to the Beast's Library in the mansion/castle, I definitely did a little squeal in my seat. #Booknerd
From the beginning to end, I absolutely loved watching this story come to life, and totally fangirled over every little detail that I can remember from both the story and the animated version.
So some people think that the cast was iffy, but to be honest, I personally think that every cast member did an amazing job! They brought this bookworm's dreams to life. I did find sometimes that Belle and the Beast didn't always have a full connection of love until the end where she literally says "I love you." but it wasn't 100% felt as much as it was said. Of course there are actual moments where you think "but how could that be?" and all I can say is just go with it. The idea of a woman falling for a beast, may not be the exact beast itself. Sometimes it's falling for someone who on the outside is beastly, yet actually just needs to open up to the right people to show that they're really a nice person, but has not been dealt with the perfect set of cards.
Overall, I am giving this movie a 5/5 for the realistic features, maintaining to most of the original story, and for keeping the entertainment factor high! I believe many people in the theater were singing along to the songs we all know, laughing with LeFou, admired the love, and amazing detail within the film.
Between the life-like Mrs. Potts and Chip, to the falling rose, and mad dancing skills of Lumiére and the romantic, ball scene, there was nothing I could dislike about this movie.
And even if Belle picked the Beast, if Gaston looked like that in real life, I would be totally okay with picking him...
