Getting out of the house on weekends is always fun, but sometimes you just need to cuddle up in a fuzzy blanket with a mountain of popcorn and watch a real good movie! (Or a super cheesy one) So in order to help make movie hunting a little easier, here is a little list of a few different genres. Hopefully one of these films will suit your fancy!

Oldie's But Goodies

Pretty In Pink is an 80s classic. Perfect if you love eccentric characters and quotable one-liners! Once you see this movie, you will continually be reenacting Duckie's record store performance to "Try A Little Tenderness."

10 Things I Hate About You is the perfect dose of laughter and Heath Ledger. However, you may shed a tear at the end.

The Parent Trap is always a winner! A super quotable movie that takes you from camp to the vineyards of northern California to the rainy streets in London. For those of you who love to travel, you can definitely live vicariously through this movie.

Life Lessons

Dead Poet's Societyis a fantastic Robin Williams film where he plays an eccentric teacher who helps students to see the world through new eyes! You will laugh, cry and pause the movie plenty of times to write down a quote or two.

August Rushrevolves around the art of music, but will teach you the importance of persistence whether you are a musically inclined or not. (This film also contains a golden Robin Williams character!)

The Pursuit of Happynesswill keep you on your toes from beginning to end. This movie is utter brilliance, and really shows where hard work can get you! Be prepared with a box of tissues near.

Animation

How To Train Your Dragon should never be underrated! The score is beautiful and dragons are basically dogs.

Zootopia took me by surprise! It is a very well put together movie that really hits on some real world problems.

Rom Com

It's A Boy Girl Thing has a similar plot to Freaky Friday however, there's a small twist. This movie is hilarious, but also pretty mushy gushy at times!

Me Before You contains the quirky Lou and the sarcastic Will. Their story is bitter sweet and will have you laughing and crying and screaming, "why!?" by the end of the film.

Love, Rosiefollows the lives of Rosie and Alex over the course of many years. Another movie that will have you screaming, "why?" Luckily there's some comic relief within the script to keep you from becoming too anxious.

The Switch is hilarious and adorable at the same time. A single mom realizes something interesting about her little boy, but you'll have to watch to find out!

Suspense

Hush verges a little more on the horror movie side, however it is not your average scary movie. The victim is deaf! And bonus: this movie is on Netflix!

Snowpierceris about life in a future world where the land has frozen over and everyone is forced to live on a continually running train. But what happens when the lower class caboose realizes they are being treated unfairly?

The Adjustment Bureau is about changing fate. But our main character discovers that fate is actually a group of people.

The Island ...you actually can't know anything about this movie. You just have to watch it.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
