I would rather stay inside and watch a movie than go to a club or bar any night of the week. In all fairness, I have only "gone out" once and it wasn't all that glamorous. Someone spilled their drink down my arm, it was so loud that I couldn't hear my friends speak, and I didn't recognize nearly any of the music due to the fact that I am not that into current pop music. I only recognized a few of the popular "stadium country" songs. On top of that, it felt like it was a thousand degrees inside of the room. So, in summation, strangers were bumping into me from every direction and I was sweating. Great. What a night to remember.
Movie nights, on the other hand, are some of the best nights I've had in my life. I love everything about movie nights. So, when given the option of getting dressed cute, applying make up for a half hour, and paying to get into a club or putting on something comfortable, staying in, throwing my comforter in the dryer for a few minutes, and choosing a movie to watch, I am always going to be the type of girl to choose the latter option.
Whether I am heating up a frozen pizza and curling up with a few of my favorite blankets or popping popcorn and throwing on my favorite pajamas and fuzzy socks, getting ready to sit down in front of a movie that I love is so relaxing to me. In my opinion, having a movie night with a few close friends is even better than opening up your laptop and watching something off of Netflix while you are sprawled out on your twin-sized bed by yourself. Finding friends who want to watch Insidious with you while eating pizza and popcorn and screaming together when the creatures pop onto the screen is an amazing feeling and memories that you will never lose.
Movie nights don't even always have to be about the movie. You could be planning on watching the movie Insidious, but spend the rest of the night talking and laughing about the craziest things you can think of. Before and/or after the movie you could end up discussing childhood memories, your favorite restaurants, your wildest dreams, or even about what movie you should watch on your next movie night. I feel like movie nights can be an excuse to be around other people to laugh and spend time together.
Since beginning college this past semester I have felt the weight of deadlines and the stress of upcoming tests I was not prepared for, but amongst these things I have also felt relief from sitting in front of a screen with a group of my closest friends and acting like fools while sharing an unforgettable moment.
