College.
A once in a lifetime experience. Are we ready to be thrown out on our own? Is it okay to miss home? Will you even miss home? There are so many thoughts and questions during the first weeks of college.
Move in day was Monday, August 14.
It was a very weird feeling to load up two cars with a lot of my belongings and drive almost three hours away. Moving in was an experience. It feels very weird to turn a little cubicle-sized room into your "home" for the next 9 months. Believe me when I say that your car is going to be stuffed to the absolute brim with dorm supplies, clothes, and other miscellaneous items. Then just imagine fitting all of that into a tiny little bedroom with no problem.
After all the car packing, unloading, and carrying it to your dorm room... you may feel like you forgot something. There usually is a Walmart no more than ten minutes away though. I've already made about three trips and one included pushing my room mate around in a shopping cart, so store trips can be an exciting adventure.
After the parents are away and the necessities have been unloaded, it's time to fully unpack. And it can be challenging. Trying to figure out where to put everything can be a very hard task. Let's not forget, it will take you a few whole days just to decorate your room, to decide where to hang what picture, and just what to do to your room in general.
The hardest part has got to be remembering everyone's name. There's the groupme people and when you finally see them in real life it's totally different and you don't want to speak to them. There's the girl on your hall, but you can never seem to remember her name to save your life. The truth is, you're going to meet so many new people in the first week of school that you are destined to forget someone's name.
After all of these struggles occur, you'll soon realize that college won't be so bad after all. You'll eventually finish decorating your room and you'll eventually learn that girls name. The best part is, you will make so many friends and will make memories that will last a lifetime.
