Ah, freshman move-in weekend. One of the most simultaneously exciting and terrifying experiences of your teenage life. In these short few days, you can expect to experience lots of different and unique emotions. Whether you end the weekend feeling like a star or like you're living under a rock, everyone's favorite pink sidekick is able to sum up many of the experiences that accompany your transition into college living.

1. Figuring out how you'll manage to fit all your things into your tiny dorm.

After lugging the entire contents of your car up the stairs or waiting in line for hours to get into the elevator, you're tasked with the challenging endeavor of finding a place for it all. Spoiler Alert: It'll probably all end up on the floor eventually anyway.

2. Learning to live with a bunch of people you've never met.

Living in a house with your family is one thing. Suddenly having to coexist with the 80 other people on your floor is something else entirely. If you thought sharing a bathroom with your siblings was bad, try sharing with 40 strangers.

3. Eating whatever you want, whenever you want.

Well, you can have whatever you want as long as it's included in the meal plan. If you want to eat waffles for dinner or have pizza for every meal, go for it! Although, that's not the best idea if you're looking to avoid the dreaded Freshman 15.

4. Realizing there are no parents around to tell you what to do...

You can do anything you want! You want to stay up until 4 a.m. watching an entire season of your favorite show on Netflix? Party until the sun comes up? Knock yourself out! Just know that you'll be regretting your choices when it's time to wake up for your 8 a.m. class.

5. ... Closely followed by the realization that you might actually miss them.

Your new found freedom might be exciting at first, but once the novelty wears off the homesickness will start to settle in. But that's okay, Thanksgiving is just around the corner.

6. Getting locked out of your room.

Having to take a key with you literally anytime you go anywhere can take some getting used to. Forgetting it isn't usually a huge deal, but it's definitely not convenient when your roommates aren't around to let you back in.

7. Becoming friends with a whole bunch of new and awesome people.

Moving into your dorm may have some downsides, but one of the best parts is all the new, interesting people you get to meet. You'll find your own group of goofy goobers in no time.

8. Realizing you're going to have a lot of fun in your new home!

Although moving in can be really stressful and emotional time, by the end of it you'll be feeling ready and excited to take on the school year with your new friends by your side!

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
