Move-In Day Thoughts In Motion
Good Stuff Moving

August brings a unique moment in time for college bound students across the nation and the world. The summer spent between high school and college is unlike any other because of the great amount of independence and change that student is about to receive. For me, move in day was a complete breeze thanks to Baylor's impeccable Welcome Week team at North Russell shout out to them! Throughout the move in day a range of emotions take place from the moment you wake up in your hotel room to the moment when you successfully climbed on top of your new bed.

GIFs express emotions and thoughts like no other to me so what better way to highlight the world wind of events known as college move in day.

Anxious: This starts the night before when your mind starts racing thinking about how your life will change

Excited: Your dorm room is perfect opportunity to make all of your Pinterest boards become true and what's better than

Panic: Once you arrive on campus the amount of traffic is horrendous and the idea of not getting to check in on time makes your hands tremble

Shocked: The panic subsides, you get your ID card and walking into your new home feels incredible

Frustrated: All the paperwork and manual labor needed for you to move in is tiring yet mandatory, my advice do it as quickly as possible

Happy: To meet your roommates new friends are great to make so get started now

Accomplished: After going to the bathroom and walking back in to see your room a wave of accomplishment comes over like a waterfall

Starved: Since the last time you ate was hotel breakfast and it's now 4:30 time to find anything you can get your hands on in your mouth

Proud: AND ready to start a brand new chapter of your life that you must share with social media

Slightly tearful: When you hug your parents, family and friends goodbye

Nevertheless have fun on move in day and enjoy the precious days before the FDOC!

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.

1. People assume you are mad all of the time.

2. Ten out of ten times you will give off an intimidating impression to others.

3. People do not acknowledge your feelings because you "do not have any."

4. Constantly being exhausted from trying to smile and not look like a witch.

5. And on the rare occasion your facial expressions show how happy you are, your friends think you are going crazy.

6. Each of your friends has said "I thought you were so mean when I first met you" at some point.

7. Then they follow that by saying "you are just hard to read."

8. So naturally if people do not know you they just assume you are a snob.

9. And when you are actually mad, your facial expressions are horrifying.

10. In the end you always look like you are judging people, when in reality people are ALWAYS judging you.
