Tragedy has found a way to strike the Glee community once again. About four and a half years after the tragic passing of Cory Monteith, Mark Salling, whose character was best known as Noah Puckerman on the mid-2000's hit comedy show, committed suicide this past week.
Though no note or explanation was left for family and friends, Salling was expected to appear in a federal court in the coming days for his sentencing on charges of possession of child pornography. One can assume that the guilt or inability to face his actions is what led up to the troubled star's eminent death.
This predicament surrounding Salling's suicide has left people wondering if there is morality in mourning him. Though he subjected himself to an unforgivable and heinous mistake, it's not wrong to feel sad for the person you once respected and adored.
Most of us really only know of Mark Salling through his character portrayal on Glee, and it was there that we fell in love with a misguided kid who had no family for a support system and often doubted his own intelligence.
We watched him befriend an individual who was very much his opposite, but turned out to be a needed companion when times were hard and a walking life changer in and of his own. Under his tough exterior, was just someone looking for a way to always -better himself and prove others who doubted him wrong.
So when news broke that this Glee star had a secret life of his own, those who knew him from his TV appearances felt comfort in remembering those redeeming qualities about him and were heartbroken to learn that he was capable of such a thing.
There's absolutely no excuse for Mark Salling's personal life decisions, but as fans of the series that made him a household name, we can only hope that his demons have finally been put to rest.
