I think sometimes in life we all need a pick-me-up.

If you are a college student like me, then you definitely need some motivation at least once a week, maybe one a day, or in my case, once an hour. At this point in the semester, I really feel that we tend to let things slip by and slip out of control.Lately I’ve been feeling in need of some high-quality inspiration and motivation. So I went to my journal, my friends, and some of my favorite authors and movies.

Here are some of my top favorite motto’s and quotes for a good pick-me-up (in no particular order):

1. It’s a good day to have a good day.

Try to look for the positive in every day. Even if it turns out to be a bad day, look for the little parts of happiness in the day.

2. When it rains, look for the rainbow. When it's dark, look for the stars.

A quote similar to the one above, this one reminds us to keep looking for positive things because they will outweigh the negative things in our days.

3. Live well, laugh often, love much.

Or in fewer words: Live, Laugh, Love. Either way you interpret this quote, just remember to enjoy life and put aside the stress every now and then.

4. Keep on dreaming, even if it breaks your heart.

For my country music fans out there, I’m sure you heard the song in your head when you read that. This quote has helped me to keep pursuing my dreams even when I wanted to give up. Don’t be afraid of failure, because the best things can come from the worst failures.

5. Failure can be the foundation of success.

Just because you think you failed doesn’t mean that you really did, and just because you did fail doesn’t mean that you will never succeed. Just keep going.

6. The true courage is in facing danger when you are afraid.

A quote from one of my favorite movies, The Wizard of Oz (which happens to be my hall theme this semester) continually reminds me to face obstacles and danger head-on nd to gain true courage.

7. Pain is weakness leaving the body.

I know for my friends this one comes in handy. Always remember that when you are in pain and something has you feeling down, you are gaining more strength.

8. Giving up is the easiest thing to do. Trying again, especially when everyone says it's impossible, is the hardest.

I have lived by this quote for a while now. I put it in all of my social media profiles simply because of the power behind the message. When faced with the easy option of giving up, realize how much stronger you will be if you try again. Even if people push you down, keep going because it is worth it.

9. Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt, and dance like nobody's watching.

While I admit I just recently heard this motto, I love it. Never be afraid of what you want to do, and always stay positive even when you have been hurt.10. PUSH: Pray Until Something Happens. I understand that some people are not religious and may not believe in the power of prayer, but praying to whatever god or gods you believe in can change things drastically.

10. And when all else fails- YOLO.

Honestly, though, just remember that everything will work out, and you really do only have one life to live, so don’t stress out too much. I hope that these mottos and quotes help you as much as they have helped me and the people I know.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
