As the end of the semester draws to a close and summer is right around the corner, I am finding it harder and harder to stay motivated. The weather is so nice and there are so many things to do other than school. This time of year, it's so hard for students to stay motivated because we are worn out, tired, and can't wait to be done. Whether you can't wait to go back home to see your family and friends like me, or are just excited for a much needed and well deserved break, it can be hard finding the willpower to finish the semester as strong as you started it. To help me stay motivated, I sometimes look to quotes from people that I look up to as a way of reminding me of the goals I have and that I must stay focused if I want to achieve them. Here are some of my favorites!

"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world." - Anne Frank

"Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So, throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, dream, discover." - Mark Twain

"The mind is everything. What you think you become." - Buddha

"There is only one way to avoid criticism: do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing." - Aristotle

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life." - Steve Jobs

"Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." - Malcolm X

"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time." - Thomas Edison

"The more you find out about the world, the more opportunities there are to laugh at it." - Bill Nye

"We must believe that we are all gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained." - Marie Curie

"If you hear a voice within you say 'you cannot paint', then by all means, paint and that voice will be silenced." Vincent van Gogh

"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." - Theodore Roosevelt

"Do what you have to do until you can do what you want to do." - Oprah Winfrey

"Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm." - Winston Churchill

"When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us." - Alexander Graham Bell

"I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. And because I cannot do everything I will not refuse to do the something that I can do." - Helen Keller

Good luck to everyone taking finals!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
