Motivation From Meredith On "Grey's Anatomy"

I have never seen an episode of "Grey's Anatomy" that hasn't left me reaching for the tissues, throwing down my iPad in disapproval, or visualizing what my life would be like if I were just a bit more like Cristina. More often times than not, a typical 43-minute episode provokes all of these emotions. Since binge-watching "Grey's Anatomy" on Netflix, I can easily reflect on many Meredith monologues and one-liners that are not only dark and twisty, but also pretty influential and motivational. Here are my top #MotivationMonday-worthy monologues from "Grey's Anatomy."

"At some point you have to make a decision. Boundaries don’t keep other people out, they fence you in. Life is messy, that’s how were made. So you can waste your life drawing lines or you can live your life crossing them. But there are some lines that are way too dangerous to cross. Here’s how I see it, if your willing to take the chance, the view from the other side is spectacular.” (Season 1, Episode 2: The First Cut Is The Deepest)

"I think you can't wait for someone to fly underneath you and save your life. I think you have to save yourself." (Season 2, Episode 8: Let It Be)

"Too often, the thing you want most is the thing you can’t have. Desire leaves us heartbroken. It wears us out; It can wreck your life but as tough as wanting something can be, the people who suffer the most are those who don’t know what they want." (Season 3, Episode 21: Desire)

"Some days the whole world seems upside down and then somehow, improbably and when you least expect it, the world rights its self again." (Season 4, Episode 10: Crash Into Me Part One)

"We don’t wish for the easy stuff. We wish for big things. Things that are ambitious, out of reach. We wish because we need help and we’re scared. And we know we may be asking too much. We still wish though because sometimes they come true." (Season 5, Episode 10: Wish You Were Here)

"Sometimes the past is something you can’t let go of. And sometimes the past is something we’ll do anything to forget. And sometimes we learn something new about the past that changes everything we know about the present." (Season 6, Episode 9: New History)

"Just put one foot in front of the other; just get through the day." (Season 7, Episode 5: Almost Grown)

"Your life is a gift. Accept it. No matter how screwed up or painful it seems to be. Something’s are going to work out as if they were destined to happen, as if they were just meant to be." (Season 9, Episode 13: If/Then)

"They hit you out of nowhere. When bad things come, they come suddenly without warning. We rarely get to see the catastrophe coming. No matter how well we try to prepare for it...We do our very best but sometimes it’s just not good enough. We buckle our seat belts, we wear a helmet, we stick to the lighted paths. We try to be safe. We try so hard to protect ourselves but it doesn’t make a damn bit of difference because when the bad things come, they come out of nowhere. The bad things come suddenly with no warning but we forget, that sometimes that’s how the good things come too." (Season 9, Episode 23: Readiness Is All)

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
