8 Ways To Get Through Last Leg Of The Semester

If you're anything like me, this is the hardest part of year for you. For me, spring semester is the hardest of them all. At this point, we've had spring break and we're ready for summer. The spring break teaser usually leaves us lazier than ever before. So, if you're anything like me, you'll definitely need some motivation and inspiration for this last leg of the race.

1. Summer is NEAR

The most obvious motivation for me is knowing that summer is just a second away. Then we have months to hang out, make money, do nothing, and have fun. Work hard! We only have about a month and a half left.

2. You're one step closer to achieving your dreams

With each day, each decision, and each plan we get closer and closer to where we want to be. These steps stones are crucial and will be beneficial. Soak up as much information as you can.

3. Understand the opportunity that you are receiving

I know too many people who can't be in school, can't afford it, or wish they had the opportunity that we have right now. There are people who would kill to be in your spot and have the chance that you're getting right now. Don't take it for granted. Learn every and anything that you can.

4. You're one semester closer to graduating or you are graduating

Trust me, if you're a freshman or sophomore it may seem like it is taking forever. But it will go by FAST. As a rising senior, I can truly say that it FLEW by. I kind of wish it had gone by slower, now looking back...

5. Reward yourself

For every little achievement, reward yourself in some way or fashion. Whether it be small or large, it'll give you a little extra push throughout the semester.

6. Take time to unwind and relax

At this point in the semester, it is easy to get so busy and stressed trying to get everything humanly possible done. Without taking time to relax, you're bound to crash and burn. Make sure you take time to meditate, pray and cool down.

7. Reduce your distractions

In order to get things accomplished, we must eliminate the things that are taking all of our attention. I've recently found that putting my phone on do not disturb, or airplane DRAMATICALLY helps in getting my work done. Even sitting at a table rather than a chair can help you greatly.

8. Lastly, BREATHE

No matter what happens, you've tried your best. Don't feel like you're less or like you can't do it. This is just a stepping stone to the dreams that you want to achieve. You're smart, and you're going to make it and be everything that you ever dreamed you'd be. Just stay positive, and take each day at a time because we're almost there.

"I've only slept nine hours over the past four days, so I'm right on the verge of a nervous breakdown." - Leslie Knope

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
