Most of us know the pain of getting to the point where the end of the semester is so near, you have so much to do, and zero energy to do any of it. It sucks and it is hard to get up and moving and finish strong.
Here are a couple of tips that I use to finish the semester strong!
Forgive yourself of all the faults of the semester
It is hard to finish strong when you are beating yourself up for not studying for previous tests, or not getting that one report in and getting a low grade. It happens to anyone and everyone. These set backs don't define your work ethic, and don't make them habits. It is something everyone can get through.
Make a list
Easy, brain dump everything that you need to do. Organize it into categories by due date or class. Reflect and look at which parts will take the majority of your time. Set up which ones need to be done first through last. Prioritize by due date or points, overall if you can drop an assignment for 10 points to get a really good grade one a 200 point one it will save you in the end.
Pick a starting point
Some people do better getting the hardest thing out of the way first, some want to get the easiest thing done first to get that feeling of accomplishing something. I personally like to start small, and work up. Once you get the ball of production rolling it will help break down the list of everything you need to do.
Get it done
I love listening to music or a good podcast while working. It keeps my mind active and to push the burn out of doing things back. Grab a snack, take breaks, review your list often. Just to keep you in line to what you need to do. You need to remember that an F isn't the end of the world, it sucks and it hurts. But we all have the strength to get though the fire and the reward after is so much sweeter.
Look at possible preventatives
Figure out what set up works for you. It can be 15 minutes a day, or a weekend power hour. It really depends on what your life looks like, and how your week is set up. It is hard to get back to baseline, but once you are there, it is easier to keep it up. You got this, and keep on keeping on.
In general it is important to take care of yourself first. It is hard to get things done when you are struggling. Trust me I know, it is hard, and even harder to get back up. It takes a lot of energy and effort to get through the semester, but once it's done you will feel better. Especially, when you have a reward to look forward to, like going home or being able to relax for a bit. Just remember to relax and recoup before the next semester starts.
